Cynthia Robertson, BA, MBA, LLM (GP), D. Adult Education, Principal, brings years of experience as a program facilitator, project leader and advisor to individuals in both the public and private sectors. She has worked as an Executive Director for the Province of Nova Scotia in several departments and agencies. She led all human resource development programs and provided facilitation leadership to all government departments and agencies. She also had responsibility for the operations and reorganization responsibilities for several other government departments. Upon leaving government to pursue a career in the private sector she worked as a vice president of a large communications and public affairs company providing leadership advice, program management services and PPP project leadership to a number of Atlantic Canada’s leading companies as well as public and private sector organizations in Ontario.
More recently she has delivered strategic advice to numerous clients including the post- secondary sector, all levels of government. She also has advised agencies responsible for PPP investments and economic development initiatives for First Nations and municipal sectors in Canada. She has advised corporations considering exporting specific technology using partnership project methodologies to emerging nations. She delivers educational programming on a number of issues to both public and private sector groups. She is a Director and the past Chair of The Canadian Council for Public Private Partnerships and is currently the Chair of the National Awards for Excellence and Innovation in Public Private Partnerships. She is a recipient of the YWCA Women of Excellence Award and has been in leadership positions with many not for profit organizations.
Stanley Strug, B. Comm., Honours in Economics, LLM (GP), Principal, has as owner of a construction and project management company in Montreal, Quebec contracted with many of the major developers in both Canada and the United States. He has led the development of many projects in and around Montreal, Toronto, the State of Florida and Atlantic Canada and has provided business, project negotiation and consulting advice to many of the largest property developers and owners in Canada. He has formerly been a licensed general contractor in both the United States and the Province of Quebec.
He is also providing strategic management to a large real estate investment portfolio. He is a licensed real estate broker in Nova Scotia and formerly licensed as a construction contractor both in Quebec and in the United States involved in all sectors of development. He is a director of a privately held real estate development corporation and the broker and owner of a real estate brokerage company in Nova Scotia, Macro Realty Group Inc.
Maureen O’Connell, B.A. LL.B., Senior Associate - As a result of her extensive career with both the provincial and federal governments, Maureen has gained valuable expertise in research, policy development and intergovernmental affairs. As a provincial senior official for the Forum of Ministers Responsible for the Status of Women, the Co-ordinator of the Labour Market Development Secretariat (NS) and the Director of the Forum of Labour Market Ministers, she has gained extensive knowledge directly relating to labour market issues and apprenticeship programming. These positions have given her valuable skills in working with other provincial jurisdictions and the federal
government.
In addition to helping to establish and sustain the Bread and Roses Bursary Fund, she has played a key role in the development
of Women Unlimited, a program that attracts women to careers in science, trades and technology. She was a member of the Planning Committee for the Canadian Coalition of Women in Science, Trades and Technology (CCWESTT) national conference held in Halifax in June. She is currently a member of the Program Advisory Committee for “Techsploration”, a program that exposes girls to science, trades and technology
careers. Ms. O’Connell has experience in working with under-represented groups including persons with disabilities. In June of 2012, she was named a Woman of Courage by the Network of African-Canadian Women in the Nova Scotia Public Service, of which she was a founding member in 2011.
